Who doesn’t love snacks? WCT, a division of KELCO, recently helped celebrate National Kindergarten Day by donating snacks for all Fremont Elementary kindergarteners in Fremont, Indiana.

“The end of the school year is such an exciting time for kids,” says Kim Kelly, Chief Operating Officer for the WCT division of KELCO, located in Fremont. “Unfortunately, not every child is always able to bring snacks to school. We wanted to make sure everyone gets a little something to eat.”

Young children need continued nourishment to grow, learn, and thrive. But according to No Kid Hungry, as many as 13 million children in the United States live with food insecurity, which is defined as households that don’t have enough food for every family member to lead a healthy life.

“We try to support our community throughout the year, whether it’s through collecting gifts for those in need during the holidays or raising funds for Habitat for Humanity,” says Kelly. “It’s critical to help support our neighbors in need for a strong, healthy community.”

As many as 1 in 6 children is at risk of hunger in America, and we can all do our part to end childhood hunger in the United States. Please visit No Kid Hungry to donate to programs in your area and learn about additional fundraising opportunities.
